Bois de Boulogne Beautiful Park In Paris

Bois de Boulogne is a huge park which is situated at the west of Paris near the area of Boulogne Billancourt and Neuilly sur Seine. When the throne of Louis Napoleon was at the downfall, the park was made. It has an area of about 2090 acres and hence it became 2nd largest park in in Paris which is like as much as 2.5 times larger than the New York’s Central Park.

Surrounding the park are English gardens, cascading fountains and plenty of lakes, two botanical gardens, Pre-Catelan, amusement park, a zoo and Chateau de Bagatelle. There are also plenty of greenhouses which contains about thousands of plants, Hippodrome de Longchamp, tracks for horse racing, and a tennis stadium called Auteuil Hippodrome.

The Bois de Boulogne is actually the leftover and remainder of the oak forest of Rouvray which was royal and consisted of Saint Germaine en Laye, Meudon, Montmorency forests and Chaville. Hunting was the popular game played in forest by the royal family.

The park was more of a collection of stunning, thrilling landscapes and a destination for recreation, amusement, fun with cafes, bandstands, sports, shooting galleries. Gatehouses were designed by Gabriel Davioud, he also built Swiss chalet which later turned out in a restaurant. Grand Cascade was also opened as well as the grottoes made of cement and rocks were laid along with bridges.

An area in center of the park, Pre Catelan was rented to a concessionaire for the amusement park. Theatre des fleurs was also constructed by Davioud, a buffet, a pavilion for photography, a dairy and almost everything. The Pre Catelan was very famous for dances and concert shows.

Bois de Boulogne attracts millions of tourists daily for pony rides, boat rowing, jogging, biking, and horseback and also remote control speed boats. The Bois also has once in a year, 3 day weekend party where many singers and bands attend it. This event attracts specially the students who are camping overnight
